In 1958, American car sales took a bit of a dip due to the economic recession at the time. Likewise, experts had predicted that American preferences would begin shifting away from large, full-size cars to smaller more economy-focused automobiles such as the Rambler and Studebaker Lark. Nonetheless, the Ford Motor Company re-vamped the styling across its entire passenger car line.
