In the mid-1960s, among the race of America's Big Three automakers to build some of the best muscle cars ever produced, a new sub-genre of muscle cars-the Pony Car-were introduced when Ford introduced its Mustang. At first, only two of the three Big Three even offered a Pony Car, Ford had its Mustang and Chrysler (through its Plymouth marque) had the Barracuda.
