After being absent from the Buick lineup for 33 years, the Roadmaster nameplate would return in 1991 with great success. It would cater to buyers who insisted on a rear-wheel-drive platform, available 8-passenger seating, and a multitude of luxury appointments. General Motors would make this the largest Buick available based on the B-platform chassis sharing its body shape with the Chevrolet Caprice and Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. Their flagship luxury Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon would have a host of available options and accessories, with production improvements over its short 6-year run. Highlighting some of these advancements included dual airbags and electronically controlled overdrive transmissions in 1994, not to mention a Corvette- inspired LT1 5.
