Regular Production Option (RPO) L89 first became available with the 1967 Corvette. What made the L89 special is that it added the competition heads from the all-aluminum L88 427, along with an aluminum intake topped by three 2-barrel carbs on the base L71 427 CID V8. The result was a very potent 435HP/460TQ (SAE NET) rating from the factory.
