Vehicle Original VIN : 138571K104249 Introduced as a 1970 model, the 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was a pet project of then Chevrolet General Manager John Z. DeLorean. Before taking the reins at Chevy, DeLorean had originated the trend-setting 1969 Grand Prix 'personal luxury coupe' at Pontiac. He had hardly settled into his new post before he began to advocate a Chevrolet comparable to the much-admired Grand Prix.
