The Chevrolet Corvair is a rear-engined, air-cooled compact car that was produced by Chevy from 1960 until 1969 to compete with smaller, fuel efficient offerings from VW, Rambler, and Studebaker. I never knew anyone who owned a Corvair when I was younger, so I concentrated on muscle cars. It wasn't until I came to work here that I became fascinated with the "poor man's Porsche". This clean 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza is a fine, well-cared-for example of these classic oddballs. Lift the "hood' in back and you'll see the wildly unconventional aluminum block 145 ci air-cooled flat 6, similar to Porsche's 911.
