When Ford introduced the Mustang in April 1964, it changed American automotive culture almost overnight. Within two years, the car that created the pony car segment had evolved into something even more compelling and nowhere was that evolution more apparent than in the 1966 Mustang GT Fastback. First introduced in 1965, the Fastback Mustang with its long sloping roofline, rear quarter louvers, and the flowing rear deck gave the fastback an athletic presence that the coupe and convertible simply could not replicate.
